What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness. It works with the subconscious mind. We all go into self-hypnosis everyday when we daydream, or our mind wanders off task. It is our brain’s way of putting events into a logical order. That can actually help us de-stress.

Hypnotherapy is using hypnosis in a meaningful way. Hypnotherapy moves your conscious mind aside and allows you access to your subconscious mind.

Deep relaxation and guided imagery in hypnosis can help you explore limiting thoughts and behaviours affecting your quality of life. It allows you to challenge core beliefs, thoughts, habits, and behaviours and develop new ways of being in the world.

You remain completely in control of the session. Most everyone can use hypnotherapy to help them explore their subconscious mind for next steps in their lives.

Understanding the Mind

Conscious mind: will power, temporary memory, analytical thought process [daily decisions], rational thinking [reasons for why do the things we do]. The language of the conscious mind is logic.

Subconscious mind: habits, emotions, permanent memory, security/protective. The language of the subconscious mind is imagination*. This means that everything in the imaginative mind is true to the subconscious mind.

*Children (birth-7 years) live in their subconscious mind almost entirely. Many core beliefs about self are formed by the subconscious mind and are thought of as real even though they may not be rational.
