Have you ever talked through a problem over and over only to be left feeling more confused and uncertain about what to do next?
Have you ever imagined what it would be like to live without anxiety or depression running alongside your life?
Have you ever pondered the big questions in life – who am I? why am I here? what’s my purpose?
My practice combines Narrative Therapy and Clinical Counselling Hypnotherapy to help you uncover the answers to these questions. My approach uses the subconscious mind and imagery to help you tell your story and bring the life you want to live into existence.
Often, the answers are within us. We just cannot hear them in a noisy world. Therapy can quiet the noise long enough to listen to our inner wisdom.
Anxiety & Depression
Have you noticed people struggling with issues of anxiety and depression has grown significantly? Our world moves so fast our instinct kicks in telling us we are unsafe. The result is increased arousal and fight, flight, freeze responses.
Anxiety is a state of hyper-awareness that shows up when you are afraid. It can be the voice that does not quiet down. It has your brain going in a thousand directions. It is the feeling that you are unsafe, even though there is nothing evident in your environment.
Depression is a state of hypno-arousal that helps you feel numb when things are overwhelming or when you feel worn out. It can be the voice that does not want to you to speak up at all. It can convince you that you are not valuable. It may try and convince you not to stay alive.
Anxiety and depression often travel together. Do you every feel yourself vibrating on hyper-alert and then crashing?
Working with a Counselling Therapist can help you design a healing strategy that is right for you. I use prevention techniques, coping, progressive relaxation, and cognitive-behavioural strategies.
Most importantly, as a narrative therapist, I can help you tell your primary story – the one where you are in control. The anxiety and depression become secondary to your story of strength.
Clinical Counselling Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is using an altered state of consciousness in a meaningful way. It is the process of moving your conscious mind aside and allowing access to your subconscious mind.
Hypnotherapy can be part of a comprehensive plan for healing from anxiety, depression, grief, loss, or trauma. As well, hypnotherapy can help you uncover the underlying cause in addiction, weight or sleep issues.
Working with a Clinical Counselling Hypnotherapist can help you uncover the issues that may be impeding your success.
Sessions are done in a relaxing environment and include time at the beginning of the session to discuss your goals and at the end of the session to discuss your experience.
Weekly sessions are recommended to begin – a minimum of three sessions is often required.
Grief is an emotional response to loss. It is normal and natural but often leaves behind a broken heart. Often we think about grief attached to death. But, loss comes in many forms. It may be divorce or the ending of a relationship; a change in career (even a promotion can cause feelings of loss) or moving.
Grief is often part of health issues, especially if you have depended on good health. More complex are issues of loss of trust, loss of faith, loss of safety. These can be the result of trauma in your past.
Working with a Grief Recovery Specialist® can help you take the next step of healing and recovery. People may tell you to let go and move on in your life, but they don’t tell you what you need to do to accomplish that.
The Grief Recovery Method requires six sessions to complete. It is a combination of narrative therapy (telling your story) and cognitive-behavioural therapy (working through exercises between sessions).
